Old Leawood is a beautiful community located on the Kansas side of the state line. The mature trees, stunning landscaping, and well-maintained homes are just some of the great qualities of the neighborhood. Just beyond Old Leawood boasts a newer retail and residential community known as Leawood, Kansas. This area includes neighborhoods such as Hallbrook Farms (built on the former farm of Joyce Hall, founder of Hallmark Cards) and Mission Farms, a newer custom development. Things To Do

The City of Leawood offers six different park systems including one park called Gezer Park. It also offers various sporting activities for everyone in the family. The Ironhorse Golf Course is one of the top public golf courses in the Kansas City Metro area. If golf isn’t your game, the Leawood Lightning Swim Team is a great way for your kids to get to know other children from the neighborhood. Another great activity you will want to check out is the Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead. The petting areas, pony rides, fishing, and other activities make for a great day out with the family.

Where To Shop

Town Center Plaza is a great shopping center that offers local stores and boutiques as well as your chain retail stores. Some of the stores you will definitely want to check out include: Crate and Barrel, Restoration Hardware, Baldwin KC, L.L. Bean, and the Apple store. Just a short drive from Town Center Plaza is Park Place Shopping Center. Here you will find more high-end and local retail shops and boutiques. Some of the local favorites include: Altar Bridal, The Learning Tree, Picasso Exotic Aquatics, and Restoration Emporium.

Where To Eat

There are hundreds of different restaurant options in the Leawood area. For fine dining, be sure to check out Pig and Finch or 801 Chophouse both located in the Park Place Shopping Center. These are both great options for a night out on the town. Some local favorites that you will want to check out include Mr. Gyro’s Greek Food, Joe’s Kansas City Bar-B-Que, Tavern at Mission Farms, the Gaslight Grill, and North Italia. All of these establishments offer numerous delicious options for you and your family.
